Our front gardens feature perennials, shrubs and trees inc wisteria on the front of the buildings. The rear landscaped gardens have lawns with herbaceous borders either side of a path that leads to the Koi pond. Plenty of year-round colour from bulbs, herbs, annuals, perennials, roses, shrubs and trees. Opens Sunday 19th April, 14th June and 13th September.
The formal gardens at St Joseph’s Hospice are a healing space. Made up of seven distinct garden spaces, each with secluded seating, intended to promote important end of life conversations with friends and family. When you visit at the end of May, you will find an abundance of roses in full bloom as the impressive wisteria fades away. Opens Saturday 30th May.
Tranquil garden of approx one acre, built for therapy, relaxation and fun. Maintained by volunteers, lawns and glades link garden buildings with willow spiral, wildlife pond, borders, sculptures and stained glass. Blue and gold planting at entrance inspires calm and confidence, leading to brighter red, orange and white. Hospice facilities open for viewing. Opens Saturday 6th June.
A wonderful and accessible garden with stunning sea views. The large grounds welcome everyone and inc space for joy, reflection, therapy and fun for the families that use the hospice. Visitors will be delighted with the sensory garden, the woodland walk, trees and play areas. The planting is beautiful, inc roses, peonies, shrubs and fruit trees. Wildlife is encouraged everywhere. The landscaped garden of the purpose-built Marie Curie Hospice overlooks the Tyne and Gateshead and offers a beautiful, tranquil place for patients and visitors to sit and chat. Rooms open onto a patio garden with gazebo and fountain. There are climbing roses, evergreens and herbaceous perennials. The garden is well maintained by volunteers. The gardens contain two large, formally laid out patients’ gardens, indoor courtyards, a long border adjoining the car park and a wildlife area with fairy garden and pond area. Children’s games. The volunteer gardening team hope that the gardens provide a peaceful and comforting place for patients, their visitors and staff. Opens Saturday 20th June.
Set in Grade II* listed medieval estate, the informal gardens at Leckhampton Court Hospice surround the buildings. Courtyard garden and new feature gardens designed by Peter Dowle, RHS Chelsea gold medal winner. Highlights inc woodland walk around lake, new embankment garden (funded by the National Garden Scheme) and terrace with magnificent views across Cheltenham towards Malvern. Opens Sunday 21st June.
The gardens at Willen Hospice span around two acres across two sites and inc lawns, wooded areas, planted beds, a working allotment, orchard and an RHS award-winning pocket garden. Set on the banks of Willen Lake, the gardens provide private and peaceful spaces for patients and their families, and are managed with an increasingly naturalistic approach to boost biodiversity. Opens Saturday 11th July.
Derian House cares for more than 400 seriously ill babies, children, young people and their families from across the North West. The gardens at the hospice offer tranquil outdoor spaces for children and their families to spend precious time together. Opens Sunday 19th July.
5 acres of mature gardens surround the Hospice. In development since 1988, the gardens are cared for by volunteers inc a Victorian-style greenhouse and large vegetable, fruit and cut flower area. Lawns surround smaller scale specialist planting, and areas for patients and visitors to relax. Woodland area with walks, sensory garden, and an ‘In Memory’ garden with stream. The gardens at the Guildford Hospice are enjoyed by families throughout the year and have been specifically designed with the needs of children in mind. They feature adapted play equipment, sensory trails, and tranquil open areas for remembrance and reflection. The gardens are maintained by a dedicated team of volunteer gardeners.
