How to make a simple bracken-base wreath

Forget all the expensive florist supplies, grab yourself a bag of bracken and clippings from the garden and get making. You can follow our ideas or do your own thing – just remember you need plants with woody stems or otherwise you can wire bunches of greenery and berries together.

You will need:

  • A wire wreath frame (or you could use a ring of garden stems)
  • Bracken
  • Variegated leaves
  • Holly with berries
  • Rosehips
  • Ivy (with or without berries)
  • Additional decorations could include – rosemary, dried orange or lemon slices wired, dried chillies
  • A pair of sharp secateurs
  • Thin garden wire

How to make your wreath:

Tie a loop of wire to the wreath ring – this is for hanging it up when complete.

Wire the bracken securely to your wreath ring.

Push in or wire in your foliage, berries and decorations – it looks best if you go in the same direction.

Add a ribbon if you want.

Hang outside.
