LEMON DRIZZLE ROSE: A NEW ROSE TO CELEBRATE THE CENTENARY OF THE NATIONAL GARDEN SCHEME – BRED BY HARKNESS ROSES – LAUNCHES AT THE RHS SANDRINGHAM SHOW
Harkness Roses 1879, the UK’s oldest rose breeder, is proud to introduce ‘Lemon Drizzle’, a stunning new rose launched in support of the National Garden Scheme. For every rose sold, £2.50 will be donated to the National Garden Scheme, helping to fund some of the UK’s leading nursing and health charities.
‘Lemon Drizzle’ combines the timeless beauty of a traditional rose with the benefits of modern rose breeding. Its elegant, high-centred buds gradually unfurl to reveal perfectly formed blooms of a delicate lemon-yellow hue. Each flower can reach up to 10cm across, with around 20 beautifully arranged petals creating a perfectly rounded bloom.
What makes ‘Lemon Drizzle’ truly special is its abundance of flowers. Throughout the season, the plant becomes covered in masses of soft lemon blooms, creating a cheerful and uplifting display in the garden. Complementing its beauty is a light, refreshing fragrance, with subtle notes of herbs and spices and delicate hints of thyme.
The plant itself is vigorous and well-shaped, producing a dense, bushy habit clothed in attractive apple-green foliage. Strong stems carry very few thorns, making pruning and deadheading a pleasure. Reaching approximately 85cm in height and 75cm in width, ‘Lemon Drizzle’ flowers continuously from June through to November, performing equally well in borders, rose beds and patio containers. Easy to grow, highly floriferous and full of charm, ‘Lemon Drizzle’ is a wonderful addition to any garden and makes a thoughtful gift for gardeners and rose lovers alike.
