Acre Meadow, Great Yarmouth

Dramatic, intensely planted mix of exotic and other late season plants, complementary and contrasting combinations of foliage and flowers, building into a hot colour and dark foliage crescendo. Alive with insects on sunny days. Planting inc Brugmansia, dahlias, tall grasses, herbaceous perennials, Aeoniums, and lots of cannas. Separate areas inc tea garden and wildlife pond. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 18th July to September for groups of 8+.

Blickling Lodge, Norwich

Georgian house (not open) set in 17 acres of parkland inc cricket pitch, mixed border, walled kitchen garden, yew garden, woodland and water garden. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 19th May to 27th September for groups of between 10 and 40.

Brick Kiln House, Shotesham

Two acre country garden with a large terrace, lawns and colourful herbaceous borders. There is a contemporary designed pergola garden, sculptures and a stream running through a diversely planted wood. Opens for By Arrangement visits from June to September for groups of up to 35.

Broadway Farm, Dereham

A ½ acre cottage garden surrounding a C14 clapboard farmhouse. Colourful herbaceous borders with a wide range of perennial and woody plants and a well planted pond, providing habitat for wildlife. A plantswoman’s garden. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 10th June to 10th August for groups of between 10 and 40.

Chestnut Farm, West Beckham

Mature three acre garden developed over 60 years with collections of many rare and unusual plants and trees. 100+ varieties of snowdrops, drifts of crocus with seasonal flowering shrubs. Later, wood anemones, fritillary meadow, wildflower walk, pond, small arboretum, croquet lawn and colourful herbaceous borders. In May the handkerchief tree, cercis, camassias and early roses. Always something new. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 25th February to 28th July for groups of between 10 and 30.

Cobweb Cottage, Beachamwell

A small cottage garden on the edge of the village with mixed borders, a sunken greenhouse, pergola, and a wildlife pond. There is also a large productive ornamental kitchen garden with bees, chickens, treehouse, prairie planting and fruit cage. Plants for sale. Opens for By Arrangement visits from April to September for groups of between 5 and 50.

Dale Farm, Dereham

A two acre plant lovers’ garden with a large spring-fed pond. Over 1000 plant varieties in exuberantly planted borders with sculptures. Also, gravel, vegetable, nature and waterside gardens. Collection of 150 hydrangeas. Swing Band music during the day, some grass paths and gravel drive. Wide choice of plants for sale and wood sculptures exhibition. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 10th June to 21st July for groups of between 15 and 45.

Dunbheagan, Westfield

Relax and enjoy the garden where the rare and unusual rub shoulders with the more recognisable plants in densely planted beds and borders in this ever-changing plantsman’s garden. Lots of paths to explore. A riot of colour all summer. Lots of seating. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 20th June to 27th July for groups of 10+.

Ferndale, Upper Stoke Holy Cross

⅓ acre garden, paved area with seating surrounded by borders of shrubs and flowers. A pond with water feature. In the second area is more seating plus apple trees, soft fruit, vegetable plot, greenhouse and herb bed. Shingled area with water feature, rose arbour and low semi-circular wall planted with flowers. There will be a craft stall and there may be an accordionist playing. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 19th May to 18th August for groups of between 6 and 20.

Highview House, Roughton

Two acre garden featuring a large range of herbaceous borders. Long season of interest through to first frost with a large range of perennial plants maintained by the owners. Over 200 salvia varieties feature through the planting of over12,000 plants attracting masses of bees and butterflies. Acer trees, interesting garden structures, water feature. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 15th June to September for groups of between 20 and 80.

Hoe Hall, Dereham

The main visual is a walled garden featuring a long white wisteria walk. This is set in the grounds of a Georgian rectory surrounded by parkland. The garden was redesigned in 1990 to incorporate climbers and herbaceous plants, with box parterres replacing the kitchen garden. There are espaliered fruit trees, and an old swimming pool with water lilies. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 15th May to June for groups of up to 30.

Honeysuckle Walk, Gressenhall

Two acre woodland garden with two ponds, river and stream, 80 ornamental trees and a collection of 400 different hydrangeas, many of which are rare. Enjoy a woodland walk, which is accessed by ¼ m grass track. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 15th June to 7th August for groups of between 10 and 20.

Horstead House, Horstead

Stunning display of beautiful snowdrops carpet the woodland setting with winter flowering shrubs. Another beautiful feature is the dogwoods growing on a small island in the River Bure, which flows through the garden. There is also a small walled garden. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 1st February to 18 February.

Manor Farm, Coston

Wonderful five acre country garden set in larger estate. Several small garden rooms with both formal and informal planting. Climbing roses, walled kitchen garden, white, grass and late summer themes, classic herbaceous and shrub borders, box parterres and large areas of wildflowers. Large collection of sculptures dotted round the garden. Dogs welcome. Something for everyone. Opens for By Arrangement visits from February to November for groups of between 20 and 50.

Old Manor Farmhouse, Swanton Abbott

Originally a field surrounding a derelict C17 listed Farmhouse (not open). Winning the 1991 Graham Allen Conservation Award, the garden structure, sympathetic to the Dutch style of the house was laid down. Closed knot garden of box surrounded by pleached hornbeam, pollarded plane trees, beech and yew hedges divide areas and flank walks, herbaceous borders and lawns, clematis and rose walk to potager and paddock. Opens for By Arrangement visits from June to August.

The Old Rectory, Catfield

A three acre garden surrounding former Rectory with gate to adjoining C14 Church. A further 15 acres of Glebe land and paddocks providing circular walk beside small lake and through orchards, woodland and extensive cutting garden. Heavily planted for all year interest but in spring masses of different species narcissi, species tulips, hellebores, fritillaries and anemone. Opens for By Arrangement visits from March to May.

Tudor Lodgings, Castle Acre

The two acre garden fronts a C15 flint house (not open), and incorporates part of the Norman earthworks. A variety of planting in mixed borders, abstract topiary, and a C18 dovecote. Ornamental grasses, hot border and cutting garden with a productive fruit cage. Natural wild area with a shepherd’s hut and informal pond inhabited by ducks and poultry. Newly planted orchard with beehive. Opens for By Arrangement visits from June to September.

Vicarage House, Great Hockham

Six acre garden with walled garden, gravel garden, sunken garden, cutting garden and small arboretum. Further cottage style long borders around house and pool house. Pool House garden with box-edged beds and fruit trees. Avenue of yew drums with trained white hornbeam. Semi-circle of yew. Garden has developed over the last 35 years. Opens for By Arrangement visits from June to 1st October for groups of up to 20.

Walcott House, Walcott

A 12 acre site with over an acre of formal gardens based on model C19 Norfolk farm buildings. Woodland and damp gardens, arboretum, vistas with tree lined avenues, woodland walks. Opens for By Arrangement visits in July for groups of between 15 and 30.

Wretham Lodge, East Wretham

A 10 acre garden surrounding former Georgian rectory (not open). In spring masses of species tulips, hellebores, fritillaries, daffodils and narcissi; bluebell walk and small woodland walk. Topiary pyramids and yew hedging lead to double herbaceous borders. Shrub borders and rose beds (home of the Wretham Rose). Traditionally maintained walled garden with fruit, vegetables and perennials. Opens for By Arrangement visits all year.
