Over the last 14 yrs we have evolved our enclosed garden from what was previously extensively laid to lawn with traditional borders, to a varied characterful garden structured by hedges, paths and herbaceous borders. Topiary, creative planting and water features give emphasis and contrast with the lavender rill, pyramid and globe gardens. The lawn has gradually disappeared! New for 2024, a yr at Bosworth House. The garden differs through the seasons. We propose three visits on 9 April for tulips and daffodils, 11 June for roses and herbaceous and 10 Sept to prepare for the winter. A garden for all seasons with quirky original sculptures and many faces. Firstly, a south aspect lawn and borders containing bulbs, shrubs, roses and rare trees with year-round interest; hedging, palms, climbers, a wildlife, fish and lily pond, terrace with potted bulbs and unusual plants in odd containers. Long narrow garden, divided into various areas. There are two ponds, one raised for goldfish, the other intended as a wildlife pond, but does inc goldfish. Small orchard, three greenhouses, mostly cottage garden with herbaceous perennials, also a vegetable garden and tropical area. Woodland area leading to the wildlife pond. An established garden sloping downward from east to west with many trees, shrubs, roses, perennials and bulbs. Small pond, terrace with wisteria covered pergola leads past the rock garden to the lower patio, a larger pond with pergola, decking, climbing roses, jasmine and clematis. A further lawn leads through an arch to the vegetable garden with fruit trees and soft fruit, bushes and climbers. Greywalls is an old vicarage set in 2 acres of relaxed country gardens planted for year-round interest. Featuring mature specimen trees, an impressive Banksia rose, three large ponds, many stone features, wildflower meadow and a Highgrove inspired stumpery. The borders feature unusual plants and there is an outside aviary. Opens for By Arrangement visits from February to 1st December for groups of between 10 and 30.
⅓ acre rear garden of C17 cottage (not open). Early spring garden with snowdrops and hellebores, summer and autumn mixed borders, many obelisks and containers, kitchen garden, herb bed, rambling roses and at least 60 different hostas. All giving varied interest from Feb through to Oct. Opens for By Arrangement visits from February to September.
Large garden developed by the current owners over the past 20 yrs. Various different planting habitats inc areas designed for shade, sun and pollinator friendly sites. Hostellarie is a long town garden divided into rooms. Lawns and grass paths lead you through varied colour borders, ponds and water features. Courtyard garden shaded by an old clematis has over 40 different hostas, there are even more mature specimen hostas in the north facing bed and other shady spots. Roses, clematis, cottage and gravel borders, and a welcoming relaxing atmosphere. Opens for By Arrangement visits from June to 27th July for groups of between 10 and 25.
Wildlife friendly garden with many small trees, bushes and perennials. Spring bulbs and primroses proliferate underneath the trees, also a laburnum arch. Gravel paths and stone steps give access to the sloping site which is just under a ¼ acre. The garden is in the process of being made even more wildlife friendly, with many more plants being added to feed bees, moths and butterflies. Large rural garden lovingly developed over the past 43 yrs on a very exposed site, planted with hedges and shelter for wildlife and birds. Roses, shrubs and borders aiming for year-round interest. Particularly attractive in May and June. A peaceful place to sit and listen to birdsong. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 15th May to 29th June for groups of up to 30.
Approx 1 acre garden wrapped around the nursery with beautiful views. Planted with many unusual shrubs and herbaceous perennials over the last 30+ yrs to reflect the wide range of plants produced. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 8th April to September for groups of between 10 and 40.
The gardens are spread over 4½ acres with formal and wild areas, a hedged quiet garden, and inc collections of naturalised bulbs, irises, peonies, magnolias, shrub roses, cherries, malus and a number of rare trees, expanded and planted by the existing owners over the past 55 yrs. In a much admired location, this stunning canal side garden has a large variety of plants, styles, structures and unusual bygones. Bulbs and hellebores abound in Mar, colourful planting in July/Sept, many pots, all set against a backdrop of trees and shrubs in themed areas. Places to sit and watch the narrowboats and wildlife.
