Northamptonshire gardens open in July

The Green Patch, Kettering

The Green Patch is a 2½ acre, Green Flag award-winning community garden, nestled in the heart of England. We have hens, ducks, beehives, ponds, children’s play area, orchard and so much more. We rely on our wonderful volunteers to make our friendly and magical garden the warm and welcoming place it is. Run by the environmental charity Groundwork Northamptonshire. Opens Sunday 12th July.

136 High Street, Irchester

Large garden developed by the current owners over the past 25 yrs. Features varied planting habitats, inc areas designed for shade, sun, and pollinator friendly sites. A wildlife pond attracts a wide range of birds, insects, and other creatures into the garden. Alpine houses, planted stone sinks, raised beds, and seasonally planted tubs for bold summer colour. Wildflower meadow. WC available. Opens Sunday 19th July.

The Walled Garden, Blatherwycke Estate

Blatherwycke Hall was demolished in the 1940s, and its gardens were lost. In 2011, renovation of the derelict 4 acre walled garden began. A kitchen garden, fruit trees, extensive herbaceous borders, wildflower meadows, tropical bed, shrub borders, and large arboretum have been planted. Restoration of the crinkle-crankle wall and ice house has been completed, and new central steps and gates created. Opens Sunday 19th July.

Woodcote Villa, Long Buckby

In a much admired location, this stunning canalside garden has a large variety of plants, styles, structures and unusual bygones. Bulbs and hellebores abound in March, colourful planting in July/September, many well-stocked pots, all set against a backdrop of trees and shrubs in themed areas. Visitors comment on the many different bird species evident during their visit. Opens Sunday 26th July.
