The late C17 kitchen garden walls surround cutting and vegetable borders and the fruit greenhouse. Natasha McEwen replanted the sunken garden (from 1898) and her redesigned 30 metres border was planted in 2019. Woodlands, pond and arboretum with over 10 acres to explore. Unusual double Walled Garden, generously planted in Cottage Garden style. Circle of box hedges, yew square and topiary; aquilegia and lupins in early June and dahlias, roscoeas and annuals in early September provide much colour. The old orchard, with wildflowers, gives access to a mown walk through a sheep grazed meadow to a woodland area, affording good views across South Tyne valley.
