Seed paper name tags

Grab some waste paper and a packet of seeds and have a go at these rustic, seed filled paper tags that you can plant in the garden to decompose and seed after use (don’t forget to remove the ribbon!)

What you need:

Scrap paper (we used uncoated magazine and news paper)
Packet of seeds
Water
Blender
Cookie cutters
Skewer (or something to make a hole)
Drying rack (we used a splatter guard)
String or ribbon

Method:

1.  Tear up your scrap paper and soak it in water for at least 2 hours (we left ours overnight)

2. Remove excess water and blend the soaked paper to a pulp.

3. Mix a packet of seeds in the paper pulp.

4. Squeeze the pulp into your cookie cutter shapes, pressing firmly and removing water as you go. We put ours on a tea towel to absorb the water.

5. Make a hole for your ribbon and place the pulp – still in its cookie cutter – on a rack or splatter guard to dry.

6. Once dry (this could take a day or so depending on how thick you make them) push out from the cutter, thread with ribbon or string and add the name of the recipient. Tie to your parcels for a little additional, eco-friendly festive fun.
