The owners bought a 1¾ acre bare, treeless blank canvas in 2010 with grass around 3ft high! Since then they have designed a Tudor folly and jungle hut, built a pergola, excavated a lily pond with bog garden created a cottage garden, orchard, and vegetable garden. They have planted hundreds of conifer, evergreen, fruit and flowering trees, roses, hydrangeas, perennials and designed numerous flower beds. Pass through the black and white gate of this Victorian house into a part-walled gardener’s haven. Bulbs, alpines and shady woodlanders in Spring and masses of unusual herbaceous plants and climbers. Numerous Japanese maples. Many spots to sit in sun or shade. Steps and gravel in places. Gardener is keen Hardy Plant Society member and sows far too many seeds, so always something good for sale. A romantic garden of surprises, which gradually reveals itself on a journey through deep, lush planting, full of unusual plants. From the sunny, flower filled terrace, a ruined folly emerges from a luxuriant fernery and leads into an oriental garden, complete with tea house.
