Berghersh Place, Witnesham

Peaceful walled and hedged gardens surround elegant Regency house (not open) among fields with a pretty view of the Fynn Valley. Circular walk with mature native trees, a mound, three ponds, bog area and orchard paddock. Informal family garden with shrub and perennial beds. Many varieties of roses, some trained on to old farm buildings. Garden created over last 30 years by current owner. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 1st June to 25th June for groups of 5+.

By the Crossways, Kelsale

A three acre wildlife garden designed as a garden within a working organic farm where wilderness areas lie next to productive beds. Large semi-walled vegetable and cutting garden and a spectacular crinkle-crankle wall. Extensive perennial planting, grasses and wild and uneven areas. Opens for By Arrangement visits for September.

Dip-on-the-Hill, Ousden

Approx an acre in a dip on a south facing hill based on a wide range of architectural/sculptural evergreen trees, shrubs and groundcover: pines; grove of Phillyrea latifolia; ‘cloud pruned’ hedges; palms; large bamboo; ferns; range of Kniphofia and Croscosmia. Opens for By Arrangement visits from June to September for groups of up to 15.

28 Double Street, Framlingham

A town garden featuring roses together with a wide range of perennials and shrubs. Conservatory, greenhouse, gazebo, summerhouse and terrace full of containers all add interest to the garden. Good views of Framlingham’s roofscape. Opens for By Arrangement visits from June to September for groups of between 10 and 25.

Helyg, Coney Weston

A garden that combines planting and novel ideas to stimulate interest, with many seats for relaxation. There are different areas with their own character, naturalised spring bulbs,many hostas, roses, rhododendrons, camellias, irises, buddleias, fuchsias, azaleas, herbs, vegetables and exotics. Raised beds, three ponds and four water features supplement the plants and a recently added ‘dry garden’. Opens for By Arrangement visits from April to September for groups of between 10 and 25.

Heron House, Aldeburgh

Two acres with superb views over the North Sea, River Alde and marshes. Unusual trees, herbaceous beds, shrubs and ponds with a waterfall in large rock garden, and a stream and bog garden. Some half hardy plants in the coastal microclimate. Opens for By Arrangement visits from April to October.

2 Holmwood Cottages, Polstead

Plantsman’s garden with many unusual plants. Hot, sunny borders and areas of dappled shade planted to explore flower colour, foliage, texture, form, autumn interest and design principles. Rich variety of perennials, grasses, species and shrub roses, ferns and woodland plants, matrix and gravel planting. Plus summerhouse, several seats and a part of the National Collection Engleheart Narcissus. Opens for By Arrangement visits from April to October for groups of between 5 and 35.

Lillesley Barn, Kersey

Dry gravel garden (inspired by the Beth Chatto Garden) inc variety of Mediterranean plants, ornamental grasses and herbs. Large herbaceous borders, pleached hornbeam hedge, rose arbours and small orchard. The garden contains various species of trees inc birch, amelanchier and willow in less than an acre of garden bordered on two sides by fields. Opens for By Arrangement visits from May to 21st September for groups of up to 40.

The Lodge, Bradfield St Clare

A self-made country garden, surrounded by beautiful parkland established from blank canvas over 20 years but recently remodelled. Gravel garden inc alpines and rockery, herbaceous borders, courtyard rose garden, large late summer perennial garden, veg garden, tulip and wildlife meadows, extensive grassland with mown paths. Opens for By Arrangement visits from May to September.

Moat House, Little Saxham

Set in a two acre historic and partially moated site. This tranquil, mature garden has been developed over 20 years. Bordered by mature trees the garden has various sections inc a sunken garden, rose and clematis arbours, herbaceous borders with hydrangeas and alliums, small arboretum. A Hartley Botanic greenhouse erected and parterre have been created. Opens for By Arrangement visits from in June for groups of 20+

Old Gardens, Kersey

Entered from The Street, a natural garden with wildflowers under a copper beech tree. To the rear, a formal garden designed by Cherry Sandford with a sculpture by David Harbour. Opens for By Arrangement visits from May to 21st September for groups of up to 40.

The Old Rectory, Nacton

Just under two acres of garden divided into areas for different seasons: mature trees and herbaceous borders, ample spring bulbs and blossom. Light soil so many self sown flowers. Damp area with emphasis on foliage (rheum, darmera, rodgersia, hydrangea). Still a work in progress after 34 years. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 15th April to September for groups of up to 25.

Paget House, Middleton

The garden is designed to be wildlife friendly with wild areas meeting formal planting.There is an orchard and vegetable plot. There are areas of woodland, laid hedges, a pond supporting amphibians and dragonflies, wildflower meadow and an abstract garden sculpture by local artist Paul Richardson. In 2024 we will be making changes designed to increase our resilience to drought. Opens for By Arrangement visits from April to 15th September for groups of up to 30.

5 Parklands Green, Fornham St Genevieve

1½ acres of gardens developed since the 1980s for all year interest. There are mature and unusual trees and shrubs and riotous herbaceous borders. Explore the maze of paths to find four informal ponds, a treehouse, the sunken garden, greenhouses and woodland walks. Opens for By Arrangement visits from April to 1st October for groups of up to 50.

Polstead Mill, Polstead

The garden has been developed since 2002, it has formal and informal areas, a wildflower meadow and a large productive kitchen garden. The River Box runs through the garden and there is a mill pond, which gives opportunity for damp gardening, while the rest of the garden is arid and is planted to minimise the need for watering. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 18th May to 21st September for groups of between 10 and 50.

Smallwood Farmhouse, Bradfield St George

The garden is a combination of traditional cottage planting and contemporary styles. At its heart, a C16 farmhouse provides the backdrop to a number of old English roses, a profusion of clematis and honeysuckle, and a variety of perennials. There are two natural ponds, a Mediterranean garden and productive kitchen garden, whilst paths wind through an ancient meadow and orchard. Opens for By Arrangement visits from 20th May to 28th June for groups of between 12 and 30.
