Why we support the National Garden Scheme
As plantsmen we appreciate the work the National Garden Scheme does in encouraging gardening, and especially in pointing out the health aspects of gardening. But primarily we want to support the great causes that the charity funds each year.
A Little Plant Company is an online plant nursery specialising in ready made borders
Why we support the National Garden Scheme
A little plant company have chosen to support the NGS as we firmly believe that it is a charity that encompasses such a wide range of beneficiaries. With a background in healthcare, I have now retrained as a gardener. I currently work at Bichfield tower, Belsay, Northumberland, where the garden opens its gates once a year for the NGS. At Bichfield we support an apprentice on the WFGA scheme. Through these different roles, I have seen first hand the difference that this fantastic charity has made to peoples lives.
A family run nursery set in the beauty and tranquillity of the small hamlet of Bingfield on the edge of the Northumberland National Park.
We specialise in growing a varied range of perennials, herbs and wildflowers using organic and sustainable methods including self-sufficiency in growing media (peat free) and re-used plant pots. We also do talks and courses on ‘Quick Return’ (QR) composting and organic gardening.
Our adjacent garden and nursery opens for the NGS on July 15th 2018.
Why we support the National Garden Scheme
It is great to support such a significant and charitable organisation whilst bringing enjoyment to those who visit our garden and nursery. It is also beneficial in raising awareness of our organic gardening and composting methods – altogether, it’s an advantageous situation for everyone involved!

A bespoke garden from Sophie Simpson Garden Design adds beauty, style and exclusivity to any setting.
I work with gardens of all styles and sizes from large rural acres to small, chic urban plots. Combining the style of the owner with the surrounding architecture and the nature and aspect of the area I create unique spaces.
I also create planting plans for existing gardens and offer a range of advice utilising my knowledge and experience, gained from years of practical gardening on a large scale, to give gardeners the skill and confidence to look after and develop their gardens.
Why we support the National Garden Scheme
The very act of walking through a beautiful garden uplifts my spirits and I hope the same can be said of the thousands of visitors to NGS gardens every year. We need to nurture the symbiotic relationship between the generous and hard working garden owners, curious visitors, the charities involved and the ultimate beneficiaries.
