Castle gardens opening in 2024

There is something about a castle that fills many with a sense of wander and romance. The British countryside is peppered with these imposing structures which are sometimes stark, sometimes picturesque reminders of our rich history from the crumbling engine houses of Cornwall, the magnificent castles across Wales and the often preserved crenelated stately homes each tell a story.
Now, in less turbulent times, many castles are set in beautiful grounds with well-tended gardens and offer the visitor a glorious glimpse into a different world. We’re hugely proud of our heritage at the National Garden Scheme and excited to have so many castle gardens and gardens with historical features and connections opening under the Scheme this year.
