Shady and sunny areas are exploited to the full and every effort made to create year-round interest. Sue’s glasshouse is overflowing with cacti and succulents, some over 35 yrs old. This garden is an example of work in progress currently being developed from farmland. The aim is to create a combination of interesting plants coupled with habitat for wildlife over a total of 9½ acres. Towan House is a coastal garden with some unusual plants and views to St Mawes, St Anthony Head lighthouse and beyond with easy access to the SW coast path overlooking Falmouth Bay. It is approximately ¼ acre and divided into 2 gardens, one exposed to the north and east winds, the other sheltered allowing tropical plants to flourish such as ‘Hedychium’, Tetrapanax and cannas. Next to medieval church and on the site of an old rectory there are still signs in places of that long gone building. A garden full of surprises, formal paths and steps lead up from the flower beds to extensive vegetable and soft fruit area.
