Gardeners’ World returns ‘Driftwood’ to the limelight
Volunteer and garden owner Geoff Stonebanks is no stranger to the limelight having been filmed in his garden for BBC Gardeners’ World back in 2016. Fast forward to 2023 and significant changes have been made to the garden to take account of dodgy knees, climate change and hosepipe bans so the BBC returned to see how the garden at Driftwood is looking now.
On the morning of filming Geoff was up at 5:30am making sure everything was perfect, some final dead-heading, cushions and furniture out and a last minute walk around to make sure everything was picture perfect. They were blessed with a lovely sunny day and when the crew arrived just after 8, the best area for filming was picked out and the interview was underway.
Geoff was asked about his favourite plants, gave a demonstration of taking cuttings from a fuchsia and did a bit of deadheading. Geoff’s rescue terrier Chester even got some time on camera!
Tune into BBC Gardeners’ World this Friday 22 March at 8pm to see the finished result.
In 2023, 26 gardens that open for the National Garden Scheme, were featured on Gardeners’ World helping to create one of the UK’s best-loved gardening shows.
