We’re looking for a Website and Digital Marketing Manager to join the team at our head office in Surrey.

Role Purpose 

The role of Website and Digital Marketing Manager is to lead our online presence and digital communications. This role is responsible for managing and developing the organisation’s website, planning and delivering digital marketing campaigns, growing audience engagement, and using data-driven insights to improve performance.

 Key Responsibilities 

Website Management 

  • Manage, maintain and update the organisation’s website and ‘find a garden’ tool, ensuring content is accurate, engaging and up to date in collaboration with the Communications Manager. 
  • Monitor website performance, functionality, security and accessibility. 
  • Coordinate website improvements, enhancements and development projects. 
  • Implement SEO best practices to improve search engine visibility and organic traffic. 
  • Ensure website content complies with GDPR and relevant accessibility standards. 
  • Manage relationships with website developers, hosting providers and external suppliers where required. 
  • Testing of all new digital developments 
  • Management of website (WordPress) plugins 
  • Website troubleshooting and support for the team 

Digital Marketing 

  • Help develop and deliver digital marketing campaigns in collaboration with the marketing & communications team. 
  • Support the scheduling of content across digital channels, including email marketing and the website.  
  • Manage automated communications programmes for communications with individuals registered to join our community fundraiser – the Great British Garden Party.  
  • Manage marketing lists across CRM and Dotdigital 

Analytics and Reporting 

  • Monitor and analyse website and campaign performance using tools such as Google Analytics and social media insights gathered from the Social Media Manager. 
  • Produce regular performance reports and recommendations for improvement. 
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) including website traffic, engagement, lead generation and conversion rates. 
  • Use data and user feedback to continuously improve digital communications. 

Brand and Communications 

  • Ensure all digital content is consistent with the organisation’s brand, values and messaging. 
  • Support the development and implementation of digital communication strategies. 
  • Maintain a consistent and professional online presence across all digital channels. 

Project Management 

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to help deliver digital projects including a refresh of the website and development of a new app. 
  • Identify opportunities to adopt new digital tools, technologies and best practices.

Person Specification 

Essential Experience 

  • Managing and updating websites using CMS platforms (WordPress is particularly desirable). 
  • Planning and delivering digital marketing campaigns. 
  • Using website and marketing analytics tools. 
  • Creating and editing digital content. 

Essential Skills and Knowledge 

  • Strong understanding of SEO principles and website optimisation. 
  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms and digital marketing best practices. 
  • Excellent written communication and content creation skills. 
  • Ability to analyse data and provide actionable insights. 
  • Strong project management skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 
  • Good understanding of GDPR and digital accessibility requirements. 

Desirable 

  • Experience in a charity, not-for-profit or small organisation environment. 
  • Graphic design skills using Adobe Creative Suite or similar. 
  • Experience with paid digital advertising (Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads). 
  • Knowledge of CRM systems and marketing automation tools. 
  • Basic HTML/CSS knowledge.

The right candidate for the role of Website and Digital Marketing Manager will be a proactive and technically confident digital professional who can combine hands-on website management with creative digital marketing expertise. The ideal candidate will have experience managing and developing WordPress websites, delivering successful digital campaigns, and using data and insights to improve online performance and audience engagement.  

They will be comfortable working across multiple digital platforms, including email marketing systems, CRM databases and analytics tools, with a strong understanding of SEO, website optimisation, accessibility and GDPR requirements. Strong organisational skills are essential, as you’ll be managing a varied workload, coordinating projects and working with both internal teams and external suppliers. 

As a self-starter with excellent communication skills and keen attention to detail, you’ll be equally at home troubleshooting website issues, testing new digital developments, creating engaging content and identifying opportunities to enhance the user experience. Experience in the charity sector, marketing automation and digital development projects would be highly advantageous. 

Most importantly, you’ll be enthusiastic, collaborative and adaptable, with a passion for using digital channels to engage audiences, support fundraising and help the charity achieve its goals
