In 2021 the National Garden Scheme made a donation of £100,000 to Maggie’s gardens.
Maggie’s offers practical and emotional support for free to anyone with cancer and their families. With 23 centres across the UK anyone can come in at any time and get the support they need. It goes without saying that having cancer can be stressful, but there are lots of things we can do to help make these feelings more manageable. As well as one-to-one and group support, we have a six week managing stress course that encourages people to try out different ways of relaxation, including managing anxious thoughts and medications. Our benefits advisors can help with money worries as well as telling people what they may be able to get and help with things like parking permits, travel and grants. We can also help people to find ways to have difficult conversations around cancer with family members and friends, supporting them as they come to terms with changes in their life.
Built alongside NHS hospitals, our centres are uplifting places with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need.
