- If you have a smaller garden you could think about inviting your guests for different time slots across the day. It will give you more time to talk to everyone!
- A lovely idea to meet just a few people at a time would be to invite friends to a front garden party. Neighbours will love to pop by, and people will naturally move on as others arrive.
- Provide seating to encourage your guests to sit down and relax, and minimise moving around. Put out chairs or picnic rugs in small groups – spacing groups 2m apart.
- Everyone will want to explore your garden, so you might like to sign a ‘one way’ route with arrows if your garden layout allows.
- Do think about how to best serve your refreshments, to minimise handling of plates and glasses or cups. You might like to serve everyone yourself or ask a friend to help with this. Wearing disposable gloves is a good idea. Or perhaps put a selection of cakes onto a plate for each seated group.
- Make life easy for yourself – use colourful recyclable plates, napkins, cups, glasses and cutlery. Tone in with your party theme for a real impact. Or ask your guests to bring their own!
- Put a few large bins or black sacks in obvious places so guests can throw away the items they have used themselves.
- Offer hand sanitizer when guests arrive.
- Offer only paper towels, or even pretty kitchen roll, for hand-drying if people might be using your bathroom.
