About 1 Glanrafon

Our garden of approx 1 acre is an experimental wildlife-enthusiast and plants-person’s paradise. The sloping south-facing borders are packed with hundreds of varieties of shrubs and perennials mostly propagated over the last 10 years.

On the lower level a large lawn is partly mown and partly long grass with meadow flowers and winding paths, with the beautiful backdrop of the surrounding woodland and the stunning redwoods of the neighbouring sculpture park. A large pond with iris and water lilies often attracts herons and kingfishers.

On the upper level is a yard with chickens and ducks; a large greenhouse always well planted with ornamental and edible crops and a productive garden with fruit trees and bushes and vegetables growing alongside ornamental plants. I am experimenting with growing numerous edimental plants throughout the garden.

The steep slopes, partly terraced, between the two levels are densely planted with shrubs and herbaceous flowering plants.

This is a perfect garden for artists, garden photographers, or to spend time in with a book or a picnic, and all are very welcome.

There is plenty of shelter overlooking various angles of the garden should it rain!
Wheelchairs can access the upper and lower levels via separate gates.
