About 2 Agricultural Cottages
This garden is not owned by a horticulturist and much of the planting is done by trial and error with plants being moved from time to time in the hope that they will be happier. The owner does love plants and gardens and is a practising member of the Birmingham Society of Botanical Artists. Whilst she literally draws inspiration from visiting others, she has little idea of what she is doing and lives by her grandmother’s maxim of loving a ‘pretty muddle’! There is a fine example of Fagus sylvatica asplenifolia that stands at one end of the garden and which likely requires some lifting of the crown; in a neighbouring garden a tall eucalyptus helps to frame the planting. This is not a specialist’s garden by any means but it is very much loved and visitors’ advice is welcomed.
