A three acre cottage garden with a stunning cherry blossom orchard. Explore our knot garden, formal rose garden, rockery and pond. There are an abundance of shrubs and ornamental trees. About Abernant

The garden is within an historic settlement site, but was totally bare except for two large trees 40 years ago when we took it in hand. The garden follows the contours of the site which is some 60 feet above the river valley.

The orchard contains approximately 85 trees, various sweet cherries. in February-March some 700 to a thousand daffodils flower around these trees. There are a great many shrubs and other trees in the garden also magnolias.

A natural pond is fed by underground pipes from a stream in the hillside above. There are several sundials two stone heads in archaic form and a large piece of fossilised wood from the Egyptian desert. Perennials surround the house and there are several paths separating the island beds.

This garden opens for By Arrangement visits from April to August for groups of up to 12.

Yes, dogs are welcome at  Abernant. Please keep the dogs on fixed short leads in the garden and keep in mind that you are responsible for controlling the dog’s behaviour. For any specific rules please ask the owners.
