The 21 acres of ancient woodland that joins the garden in a steep valley setting is a SSSI following an old packhorse track made by charcoal burners. Opposite is Lemon Cottage with a spring-fed pond, a Japanese-inspired garden and 14 acres of woodland with views across Dartmoor.
