The woodland that joins the garden is in a steep valley and has bluebells; it is a SSSI following the old packhorse track made by the charcoal burners to see the bluebells at the far end of the woods.

Coming from Haytor, at Smokey Cross take the road to Bickington and at Birchanger Cross take right turn to Bagtor. From Liverton/Ilsington carry on towards Haytor until Smokey Cross and turn L.
