About Fernhill Coach House

Approx one acre garden and orchard. – A riot of chaotic exuberance. Mixed borders, roses, lots of veg, greenhouse, orchard, ponds. We propagate cottage garden plants and grow heritage and northern fruit trees. Enthusiastic volunteers from Wwoof organisation provide help in this garden and orchard.

There are forty different apple/pear varieties planted in the south facing orchard, which is now managed to produce a traditional hay meadow, encouraging biodiversity.

Plants are propagated for sale. All takings for charity.

Lovely woodland walk from/to orchard and Halecat garden nursery. Approx 1/2 hour walking. Not suitable for the semi ambulant. Walking shoes recommended.

15 minute walk via a rough pedestrian lane and a quiet road which leads to Witherslack church and Vicarage House East, our partner garden.

Disabled parking for three cars at Fernhill. Main parking at Key Moss opposite. Park on adjoining field in dry weather.

Follow brown signs to Halecat, continue along Bleacragg Rd for ½m. Fernhill on L. Rail to Grange-over-sands Bus X6 - 2m walk, NCR 70. Roads & parking are not suitable for coaches.
