About Fox Cottage
The original 1960s cottage was rebuilt in 2014 at which time the garden was reconfigured around the inherited grand old oaks, ash, a walnut tree and a big old pear tree. Subsequent tree planting has included chestnut trees, beech, acacias and some smaller ornamental trees to contrast with the larger oaks such as acer, liquidambar and magnolia grandiflora. A south facing long terrace with rectangular borders features colour and interest throughout the season. There is an established display of snowdrops to herald the spring and daffodils, bluebells and unrestrained cow parsley to follow. The surrounding woodland is developing with other bulbs such as camassias and a collection of hellebores. Hostas are a great favourite both in containers and in the woodland where they thrive – much to enjoy in this informal setting.
