Greenfield Hall

Set in a green oasis on the edge of Colne, C16 Greenfield Hall (not open) has a quirky informal garden featuring old and English roses and a wide variety of perennials, shrubs and young trees. A new pond is home to ghost carp and goldfish. The garden has several different planting areas. It is divided by the beck, crossed by a medieval bridge, and showcases work by renowned sculptor Clare Bigger.

About Greenfield Hall

The garden has been developed over the past 9 years and is in 3 areas. The main area at the back is gently sloping and very shaded by large mature trees on the boundaries. It continues to be a challenge due to the amount of wild garlic, brunaria, creeping buttercup and other wild plants that covered the garden when we arrived. Many cultivated plants do not like the soil and do not survive their first year. We are gradually getting there.
