About Hilltop, 28 Horniman Drive

This is a diverse country-style garden with many different elements including a meadow, large chicken run, a fruit and veg cage, colourful cutting beds, greenhouse, pond and children’s activities. It is a peaceful hilltop plot with views over the city and has been slowly evolving over the years. The 2020 lockdown and heatwaves made me re-think the future so I’ve done lots of replanting with plants to withstand drought and the composting/leafmould area has grown. I’ve spent the long lockdown experimenting with making home made multi purpose compost and seed composts, trying to stop using single use plastic altogether and have propagated hundreds of ‘bombproof’ plants – all with the aim of sustainability.
