About Shutelake

There is a distinctly Mediterranean feel about the formal part of this garden which melds into the Devon farmland it sits amongst. This is a working sheep farm. The natural pond and gently babbling Burn stream attract birds and insects including sometimes a kingfisher on the woodland stretches. The borders and beds are planted with mix of shrubs and flowers chosen by the owner. Various colour-blending is to be found especially in the border where dark rich reds, tangerines and copper are favoured. Shutelake has a relaxed, welcoming style where enjoyment of gardening all year through is at the forefront of the raison d’etre for this tranquil place.
