Silsoe Village Gardens

The historic village of Silsoe dates back to the Viking era, but is best known today as the home of Wrest Park. 10 Alder Wynd is a small modern garden, constructed nine years ago and has been the runner up in two national gardening awards. A wide range of seasonal perennials, trees and shrubs give this garden year-round appeal. Notable for its collection of giant hostas, ferns, exotic perennials and cannas. Round Cottage, which is thatched, dates to the 1820s and is surrounded by a pretty cottage garden. Traditional style flower beds have perennials mixed with exotics from around the world plus a sprinkle of annuals. Large Koi pond with waterfall, Victorian style greenhouse. There is a deep lit well. The Arboretum at Newbury Farm is a private four acre arboretum, started over 30 years ago by Maurice and Carol Clarke. Enjoy a stroll through the collection of over 90 trees, planted against a backdrop of rolling Bedfordshire farmland. There is also a recently constructed gravel garden.
