Sunnyside Rural Trust Trail

Sunnyside Rural Trust is a therapeutic horticultural charity and social enterprise, which supports young people and adults with learning disabilities with training and employment in SW Hertfordshire. The three, six acre gardens are located along the Bulbourne valley, just off the A4251 and close to the Chilterns AONB. The Northchurch site is a market garden using ‘no dig’ methods, nature trail with wildlife pond and small animal farm whilst at Sunnyside Berkhamsted there is a vegetable growing area and extensive cane and espalier fruit garden, with a woodland and hazel coppice, each busy with wildlife. The 3rd site - Hemel Food Garden is a Green Flag award winning site that is also a plant nursery growing peat free perennial and annual bedding for domestic and commercial clients. They have an orchard, quiet garden space and market garden, growing a wide range of vegetables for their own use. For a day out why not drop in to all three sites under a combined ticket.

About Sunnyside Rural Trust Trail

A select range of perennial plants, veg seedlings and herb plants will be available for sale as well as homemade chutneys and jams from our own produce. This garden is proud to provide plants for the National Garden Scheme’s Show Garden at Chelsea Flower Show 2024.

Refreshments Home-made teas at Hemel Food Garden and Northchurch sites. The cafes offer hot & cold drinks, cakes & snacks from the farm shop. The Sunnyside Up cafe has vegetarian and vegan lunch options.
