About The Mill House
The gardens of Mill House are split into three parts, the lawn area in front of the house contains a mill pond with a bog garden margin and outlet to the River Perry.
The south-facing rear garden comprises terrace, lawn and herbaceous borders. The lawns here surround an ancient yew tree and run down to the River Perry with a riverside walk. The garden is adjacent to the Mayall Arboretum, incorporating a national collection of Betula.
The third part of the garden is across the lane leading to the house and features the vegetable garden and greenhouse, the old barn and pigsties and a large lawned area with extensive shrubberies and woodland containing many species of tree including coastal redwoods, gingko and mountain snowbell tree. There are a number of Cornus Kousa and several large Kiftsgate roses, as well as other colourful shrubs.
