About Thorncar
This newish garden is planted for all seasons. The year starts with snowdrops, aconites and dwarf daffodils under the peonies. April into May is dominated by the self sown perfoliate alexanders and a red rhododendron. The peonies are for June while July sees the day lilies and August the hydrangeas. Hardy fuchsias lead into September. The wild area behind the rose arch has ground cover of pulmonarias with ferns to provide interest and self seeded white aconitums. The Cornus capitata is a glory in late May/early June and in late September is decorated with bright red spherical fruit. In late July and early August the Eucryphia nymansensis Nymansay is smothered in single white blooms and alive with bees. Come autumn the Chilean bromeliad is in flower with its electric blue flowers surrounded by a bright red bracts.
