About Forest Hill Garden Group
An eclectic group of eight charming gardens, all within a short walk of each other.
A gently rising urban garden with intricately planted terraces combining traditional elements – topiary, roses and herbaceous borders – with an ‘experimental’ wildflower meadow and delicate woodland planting developed over many years to create an oasis of calm in the city.
An artist’s magnificently walled courtyard garden wrapped around an 18th century Coach House, with her own sculptures, fountain, birdbath and decorative plants in pots large and small for interest all year round. Check out the stunning Double Black Dragon Wisteria.
A plantswoman’s garden offers a haven of peace and harmony with truly breathtaking views over the Downs. Box topiary guides the eye along formal beds with rich colours among purple foliage. Below, a seating area, with greenhouse, cut-flower and vegetable plot providing a haven for insects and human alike.
A charming fruitful garden that takes you back to a time when this area was rich in orchards. Plum, cherry and apple trees spread their branches, while strawberries tumble out of pots. With blossom in spring and fruits later in the season this garden is a little gem.
A new addition this year: a peaceful, beautifully planted garden with shrubs and borders divided into areas centred around a large pond, and with spectacular views of London.
A vintage garden designed to interest children as well as gardeners, with a large chicken run and several breeds of hens. This year there are new raised beds for vegetables to complement the greenhouse and fruit cage. There are flower borders, meadow circle and wildlife areas – all created with sustainability in mind.
And finally, an organic bee and pollinator-friendly 150 foot garden, overlooking Horniman Park, with relaxed planting style in soft colours in several separate areas. Quirky sculptures, green slate water feature and lots of different seating areas.
Plants for sale at 7 Canonbie Road.
